We are the cheerful, charming Chestnut Class and we really enjoy learning. Miss Isaacs, Mrs Parker and Ms Dodd all help us with our learning. Henrietta the Hedgehog, Twiggle the Turtle, Olly and Olla the Owls are our class friends and they like to ask us questions about what we have learnt.
We have made a brilliant start to Year Two and have settled in really well. In our lessons we do lots of exciting activities, use many interesting resources and always try our best. This means we really enjoy our lessons and learn such a lot.
We have enjoyed reading the book ‘The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse’ by Charlie Mackesy. It has really made us think about the importance of kindness and friendship. We had great fun listening to the sounds of nature and doing leaf and bark rubbings in our school field. We have also just read ‘The Colour Monster’ by Anna Llenas and we really liked hearing about how the Colour Monster changes colour when he feels different emotions. We are enjoying writing about different feelings and we are improving our sentence writing. In Maths, we are learning all about place value. We have already explored different ways to represent numbers using a variety of apparatus. Our Science area of learning this half term is ‘Uses of Everyday Materials’. We have been investigating different types of materials, describing their properties, sorting materials and we will be carrying out investigations including testing the absorbency of different materials. It is very exciting – we will also be choosing appropriate materials to make our own kites! We are also enjoying our Area of Study – The Great Fire of London! We have begun learning about how London has changed since the fire and have been using different sources to find out information. Soon we will be making our own houses and recreating Pudding Lane in 1666!
We are Chestnut Class: we always take care of each other and really enjoy learning!
