We are the cheerful, charming Chestnut Class and we really enjoy learning. Miss Isaacs, Mrs Parker, Ms Dodd and Mrs Johal all help us with our learning. Olly and Olla the Owls are our class mascots and they like to ask us questions about what we have learnt.
We have made a brilliant start to Year Two and have settled in really well. In our lessons we do lots of exciting activities, use many interesting resources and always try our best. This means we really enjoy our lessons and learn such a lot.
We have been enjoying reading the book ‘Here We Are’ by Oliver Jeffers. It has really made us think about our wonderful world. We have enjoyed doing a range of activities, including thinking about the vast range of different animals /people there are in the world and how they are all special. We also had great fun listening to the sounds of nature and doing leaf and bark rubbings in our school field. Soon we will be reading George and the Dragon and are improving our use of adjectives. In Maths, we are learning all about place value. We have already explored different ways to represent numbers using a variety of apparatus. Our Science topic this half term is ‘Materials’. We have been investigating different types of materials, describing their properties, sorting materials and we will be carrying out investigations including testing the absorbency of different materials. We are very excited about our History topic – The Great Fire of London! We have begun learning about how London has changed since the fire and have been using different sources to find out information. We can’t wait to make our own houses to recreate Pudding Lane!
We are Chestnut Class: we always take care of each other and really enjoy learning!
