Welcome to Mulberry class!
Mulberry class teachers are Mrs Seward and Mrs Ladva. We have had a great start to the new school year with the children settling in well to Year Four. Our classroom is already looking very colourful with your children’s writing and drawing on display.
In English we have begun our reading of ‘The Iron Man’ by Ted Hughes and will be having some fun with writing based on this amazing book. Later this term we will look at Ancient Greek myths, which ties in with our Ancient Greek area of study. During this topic we will examine Greek artefacts, look at Greece’s geography, discuss the origins of democracy, and even work as detectives to discover the truth about the Minotaur!
We have started the year by revisiting place value in maths, as well as learning all about Roman numerals and how to round to the nearest 10 and to the nearest 100. We will be moving on to count in thousands from different numbers and learn about negative numbers.
In Science, we are learning about living things and their habitats. This will include looking at how we classify animals as well as how we need to look after our environment, learning about the work of environmentalist Jane Goodall and her study of chimpanzees.
P.E. this term is on a Tuesday and Friday and children should come into school in P.E. kit on these days.
Even though things aren’t quite as normal right now, we still have an exciting and busy year ahead of us! We are looking forward to growing and achieving in lots of different areas of learning.
