Vision Statement for PE

At Buckingham Primary School we believe PE and Sport plays an important role in making our vision statement a reality for every pupil, with the potential to change young people’s lives for the better.

Through PE and Sport our children learn to develop the important qualities of discipline, resilience, communication, team work, and ambition, leading to improved concentration, attitude, and academic achievement.

PE and Sports Grant

Sport Premium is an amount of money which the government has agreed to allocate to schools and academies to increase both the quality and breadth of PE and Sport provision and the level of participation in PE and Sport.

The funding amount received by schools is based upon the number of primary aged pupils. We welcome the additional funding, which will further enhance our provision and provide additional opportunities for increased participation.

This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools.

Purpose of funding

Schools must spend the additional funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but schools have been given the freedom to choose how they do this. A list of possible uses has been suggested.

Buckingham Primary school has decided to use the money to:

• pay for professional development opportunities for teachers in PE and sport
• increase pupils’ participation in the sports and physical activities
• improve resources to support the development of the subject.

The impact of the use of the grant will be reviewed regularly.
