We have made a brilliant start to our Reception year and settled in really well. We have been exploring our classroom and outdoor area, and carefully using them to discover and learn new things. We have met our class mascot, Penny Pangolin. Penny is already looking for all the adventures she is going to have with Cherry Class this year.
Our topic this term is ‘All About Me’ and we are getting know more about each other - our interests, families and our thoughts and feelings. We have been busy painting our portraits and learning to write our names. This half term, we will be discussing the text called ‘Oh No George’ by Chris Haughton and we will be focussing on our school values.
As we begin to build our Phonic knowledge, Mathematical thinking and problem-solving skills, whilst learning together and looking after each other, our teachers have planned a fun filled busy term for us.
We will keep you updated about our amazing learning journey!
It was great to welcome the children to Holly Class and getting to know them more each day. They are beginning to learn the routines of the class and have settled really well making new friends and reuniting with old. Our topic this term is ‘All about me’. We have painted our self-portraits and handprints of all colours; they are now on a display in our classroom. We have a class full of amazing artists. We are even staying all day and feel very grown up. School dinners are yummy!
Our daily classroom learning will include writing our names, letters and numbers and taking part in our PATHS (Promoting Alternative Thinking Strategies) that we help us to understand our feelings and friendships. In our Literacy lessons, we will be focusing on the story ‘Oh No George!’ by Chris Haughton which focuses on politeness and other good manners.
We are off on an amazing learning journey in Holly Class and promise to keep you updated on how we are doing each term!!
