Welcome back from Sycamore Class!
This year our teacher is Miss Gathern and our teaching assistants are Mrs Richardson, Mrs Cobb and Ms Kan. Mrs Kitson also helps us with our learning. We have made a brilliant start to Year Two and have settled in really well. In our lessons we do lots of exciting activities, use many interesting resources and always try our best. We are very excited about being in Year Two and we will be doing lots of exciting learning.
We have enjoyed reading the book ‘The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse’ by Charlie Mackesy. It is all about kindness and friendship. We have also started reading our new class reader 'The Hodgeheg'. We love the story so far and can't wait to read more about Max the hedgehogs adventures!
In Maths, we are learning all about place value. We have looked at tens and ones in two-digit numbers and how we can represent numbers in different ways. We have also learnt how to partition numbers as well how to order and compare them.
Our Science area of learning this half term is ‘Uses of Everyday Materials’. We have been investigating different types of materials, describing their properties, sorting materials and we will be carrying out investigations including testing the absorbency of different materials. It is very exciting – we will also be choosing appropriate materials to make our own kites!
In our Area of Study lessons we are also enjoying learning about The Great Fire of London. We have begun learning about how London has changed since the fire and have been using different sources to find out information. Soon we will be making our own houses and recreating Pudding Lane in 1666!
We are really looking forward to the term ahead and all the new things we will learn. We love to challenge ourselves and always have a positive attitude towards everything that we do!
