Willow Class

We are having a very busy term in Willow Class.

In Literacy we have been working from a new book called ‘George and the Dragon’ and it was a very happy coincidence that we were actually writing about the dragon on St. George’s Day which was on 23rd April!

At the moment we are working on character profiles and have been writing down our opinions of Mr and Mrs Twit and their unusual lifestyle!

We have also been writing about ‘Nocturnal Animals’ and this links with our Science learning on Plants and Animals in the Local Area.  Soon we will be spending the whole day at the Bushy Park Environmental Education Centre where we will have lots of opportunities to observe the plants and animals at really close quarters.

We were all delighted to visit Richmond Synagogue recently where we saw the magnificent Torah Scrolls that we had been learning about in our RE lessons.  We took part in a Shabbat meal and it was exciting to drink grape juice and to eat a small piece of Challah bread.  We also really enjoyed dressing up in Jewish robes as you can see in our photo.

Luckily there are still lots more things to look forward to later this term including Sports Day, the Summer Fair and of course our preparations for moving into Year 3 and the Junior department of the school!
