A warm welcome to Buckingham Primary School and our school website.
Buckingham Primary School is located in the London Borough of Richmond Upon Thames. This is a very caring and happy school, with a Nursery, which sets high standards and believes the relationship between school, pupil and home is strongest when all are working together towards a common goal of success. We believe that this success will be best achieved within the vibrant and organised learning environment that Buckingham Primary is able to provide.
We are delighted to share with you the outcomes of our most recent Ofsted inspection report which was published on Tuesday 14th January 2025. We are very proud of our report and Ofsted have judged Buckingham Primary School as GOOD in all areas. We are extremely proud of this positive outcome which is a testament to the care and commitment of our staff and governors, the support of our parents and carers, and of course, a celebration of our impressive children.
At Buckingham, the feedback that we regularly receive from visitors that spend time in our school is positive and recognises the enthusiasm, supportiveness and kindness of both our staff and our pupils. We feel that our Ofsted report has effectively captured this as shown in these extracts from the report below:
Buckingham Primary School is a welcoming and safe place where everyone is valued. Pupils feel proud to be part of the inclusive school community. Staff provide high-quality pastoral care, and pupils know they can rely on them to help resolve any issues or worries. As a result, pupils are kept safe, feel well cared for and are happy.
The school’s motto of believe, persevere, succeed is threaded through all aspects of school life. This ambition is reflected in the pupils’ achievements. Pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) are well catered for at the school. They develop confidence and are happy here.
Positive and caring relationships are central to the work of the school. This is a listening school. Leaders hear the voices of staff and pupils. Pupils are taught the importance of kindness and respect. Staff encourage pupils to demonstrate these values.
The report also acknowledged that staff who teach and support your children are skilled, have high expectations and secure subject knowledge:
Teachers have strong subject knowledge. In lessons, they provide opportunities for pupils to recall their prior learning. Teachers explain concepts clearly. They prioritise building pupils’ communication skills. Engaging activities help pupils understand what they need to learn. Staff adapt learning so pupils with SEND can access it alongside their peers. Across the school, pupils develop both their vocabulary and their writing skills confidently.
We place great importance on the partnership we share with you in supporting your child’s learning. Close and constructive relationships are vital and so we keep you well informed about your child’s progress and how we can work together to ensure they are happy, safe and successful at school. We will always listen to any concerns or ideas that you have.
I hope you enjoy visiting our school website and that you find it informative and interesting. Of course, the best way to really find out about us is to come and visit our school and all who support the children in our care. Please feel free to contact me to arrange a visit with your child. I look forward to meeting you.
Of course, we also want you to meet our pupils - they are our greatest asset.
Best wishes
Ms Caroline Boyle
